Why the Kenai Peninsula Needs a Real Data Map

Fishing, hunting, and recreation deserve better—a map that ties into the fish count ecosystem and land status.

The Kenai Peninsula is one of Alaska's most heavily used recreation areas. River systems, fish counts, public access, and land status are critical for anglers, hunters, and anyone planning a trip. Yet most maps treat the Kenai like anywhere else—generic basemap, no local intelligence.

The Opportunity

  • Fish counts (USGS, ADF&G) are real-time and rich—Perfect for deciding where to fish.
  • Public access (17(b) easements, RS2477) determines where you can legally go.
  • Land status (state, federal, Native, private) affects access and regulations.
  • Stream gauges and water levels matter for river crossings and fishing.

TrueTopo Fish Pack

We've built the Fish Pack data layer—live river gauges and fish counts wired into the map. Select a river, see the counts, see the gauge. It's the first step toward a Kenai-specific (and eventually statewide) recreation intelligence layer.

The Kenai will be a proving ground for how TrueTopo connects real-time environmental data with land intelligence. If you fish or hunt the peninsula, we want your feedback.
