Inside the Alaska Mining Claim Intelligence Layer
Data sources — BLM LR2000, DNR case files, USGS MRDS. How we ingest, normalize, and serve mining claim intelligence.
The TrueTopo mining claim layer pulls from three primary sources.
BLM LR2000. Federal mining claims on BLM and USFS land. We pull case data and geometry, normalize status codes, and match to geographic extents. Update cycle: weekly.
DNR case files. Alaska state mining claims and mineral leases. Different schema, different statuses. We map them into a common model so users see a unified view.
USGS MRDS. The Mineral Resources Data System provides deposit-level context: commodity, deposit type, production history. We link claims to nearby deposits for research and due diligence.
Pipeline. Ingest → validate → deduplicate → publish. All runs in our data pipeline, outputting GeoJSON and vector tiles for the app. Pro feature, gated by subscription.
Roadmap. Historic claims, placer vs lode differentiation, and direct links to BLM case file PDFs.
